5th Friedrich World Championship 2010
The Participants

22 players had registered for the 5th FWC. Unfortunately, the 2009 World Champion Björn Apelqvist and the 2009 Grandmaster Josef Gundel were unable to come. It was the first time that the World Champion did not defend his title! It is of further interest that Josef had made it into every final so far ; and now he was not able to proof that he will be another finalist this year. The participants came from the following countries: Germany (16), Sweden (2), USA (2), Netherlands (2).
Since the format of the FWC needs a multiple of 4 for the number of players, the Friedrich-Designer Richard Sivél and Andrea Homberg together with Björn Steinborn filled the missing seats. However, all these players were out of competition. (Histogame is very grateful to these players!)
The players for each individual game were found by drawing lots.
