16th Friedrich World Championship, 2021

The Participants

Due to the corona virus and the difficulties in travelling, only 15 players participated in this year's tournament. For one player it was the first FWC.

The players came from the following countries: Germany (9), Great Britain (2), Ireland (1), Norway (1), Sweden (1), USA (1).

Due to the format, the number of participants has to be a multiple of 4. Therefore, the Friedrich designer Richard Sivél jumped in, but played out of competition.

Who was playing who was decided by drawing lots. Like in the previous years, every player could meet each player only once in the tournament. Furthermore, the lots were pre-sorted into pots in such a way that players coming from the same hometown group could not meet each other.
